Prior to his ordination, as a graduate student in 1974, then 23-year-old Rowan Williams travelled to General Seminary in New York City for his first overseas lecture in the United States. In commemoration of the 45 years of a distinguished career and life in ministry, Williams returns to General Seminary. He will offer extended thoughts on his work, Being Christian, and reflect on his life in ministry.
Immediately following, the seminary will host its Convocation, which will include the conferral of honorary degrees on Williams as well as Michael B. Curry, the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church. Curry will preach during the service.
